What is and FSA ID and How do I create one?

The FSA ID is a username and password that you must use to login to certain U.S. Department of Education websites.  It is used to confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and to electronically sign your federal student aid documents such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Master Promissory Note (MPN).

To create an FSA ID, visit this page and enter the required information.  The system will require you to provide personal information such as your social security number, name and date of birth.  In addition, you will be required to provide five challenge questions and answers.

Please note that at least one of the parents of a dependent student will also need to create an FSA ID to electronically sign the FAFSA.
