My award letter says that I am entitled to receive a certain award amount. I am taking 9 credit units. Why did my award amount change?

Prior to the first day of classes all awards are offered based on full-time enrollment to ensure you have the maximum award amount available to cover tuition and fees for the term.

  • Full-time enrollment is defined as twelve (12) or more credits per term
  • Three-quarter enrollment is defined as nine to eleven (9-11) credits per term
  • Half-time enrollment is defined as six to eight (6-8) credits per term
  • Less than half-time enrollment is defined as five (1-5) credits per term

Depending on your enrollment status, your award may be adjusted as stated in the Terms and Conditions of your award(s).  Please note that many awards require at least half-time enrollment status.

An example of proration by award type can be found in the Terms and Conditions at: http://www.mdc.edu/financialaid/receive-aid/terms-conditions.aspx.
