Do I need to attend orientation?

Orientation is mandatory for new students coming directly from high school (direct entry). It is optional for all other students.

The steps for new direct entry students to complete orientation are listed below:

  1. Complete the Sharks Intake Form
Help us get to know you by completing the intake form.  This will help us better support you as you make the transition from high school to MDC.
  2. Complete the Shark Start Online Orientation
You will need your MyMDC account to log into the online orientation. If you have not already, be sure you have created your MyMDC student account.
If you encounter issues and you are using Internet Explorer 11, we recommend that you use Internet Explorer 10, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
  3. Attend a Shark Start Orientation at your home campus
After you have completed steps 1 and 2, you will be able to register for your Shark Start Orientation on campus. There, you will meet other new students and select classes with your assigned advisor.

*Please note that you will need to use your MyMDC account information to access the sites listed above. Be sure to format it this way:  MyMDC\username (For example:  MyMDC\firstname.lastname001)
